Photonics' graphic designer Michelle Markwell gave birth to baby Barrett on April 26, 2010. Photonics staff was able to meet the little guy during an outing with parents Michelle and Brandon to visit the studio. And for those of you who like the details: April 26, 2010, 5:56 am; 7 lb, 10 oz; 21", everyone did fine (and no, we don't divulge how much weight mom gained!)

 

 

 

Cincinnati Regional Chamber Salutes Photonics

Cincinnati Regional ChamberPhotonics, recognized with a "10 Under 10" award from the Cincinnati Regional Chamber, also received recognition for our 20th anniversary in November 2009. Photonics was founded in 1989 when typesetting and airbrush artistry were primary professions. Serving as a beta tester for PhotoShop, pioneering the digital frontier in Cincinnati, converting a old Victorian house into the current Walnut Hills studio, and receiving the "10 Under 10" award from the Chamber in 2007 -- Photonics has been a leader in the Cincinnati design community for the past 20 years.

Israeli Scouts Travel to Cincinnati for Summer Camp

The Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America is hosting 8 Scouts, four girls and four boys, from Netanya, Israel this summer. The Scouts will experience a two-week summer camp at Camp Friedlander in Loveland, OH. Photonics’ Alan Brown is serving as the 2007 Chairperson for the Netanya Boy Scouts Commitee – part of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati Partnership 2000 (P2K).

During the two weeks the Israeli Scouts will camp and learn with local Boy Scouts who are also attending summer camp. Canoeing, rock climbing, camping, earning merit badges, and having fun with friends, as well as learning the similarities and differences between the two cultures will be part of the experience. The Israeli Scouts and their leader will stay with host families from the congregation of Beth Adam in Loveland, the weekend they arrive, and the weekend after camp.

This program has been joining Israeli and American Scouts for the past five years and is part of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati Partnership 2000 (P2K), which works to develop relationships and group exchanges between citizens of both Netanya and Cincinnati. Western Southern Foundation, Congretation Beth Adam, Steven Frankel, and Bill Friedlanderl are also underwriting the Scouting program.

Photonics Graphics Honored by Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce 2007 10 Under 10 Award, Cincinnati USA Regional Changer of Commerce

Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber's Small Business Excellence Awards Luncheon, was held May, 23, 2007 at Duke Energy Center.

Paul Hemmer Cos., a Fort Mitchell-based real estate, construction and building services firm, was named Small Business of the Year in the 51-250 employees category.

Wright Brothers, a Blue Ash bioscience firm that produces and distributes specialty industrial gases, won Small Business of the Year in the 1-50 employees category.

Photonics Graphics was named in the 10 Under 10 category: Ten businesses with fewer than 10 employees were honored for excellence. Alan Brown, President, accepted the award.

Jerry Kathman, president and CEO of branding firm LPK, spoke on, "Building Leadership Brands by Design."

Recently the Cincinnati-Kharkiv Sister City Project changed its name to Cincinnati-Ukraine Partnership to better reflect the expanded scope of the current organization. Photonics is proud to have redesigned the logo, marketing materials, and Web site of this important group.
