Israeli Scouts Travel to
Cincinnati for Summer Camp
The Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America is hosting 8 Scouts, four girls and four boys, from Netanya, Israel this summer. The Scouts will experience a two-week summer camp at Camp Friedlander in Loveland, OH. Photonics’ Alan Brown is serving as the 2007 Chairperson for the Netanya Boy Scouts Commitee – part of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati Partnership 2000 (P2K).
During the two weeks the Israeli Scouts will camp and learn with local Boy Scouts who are also attending summer camp. Canoeing, rock climbing, camping, earning merit badges, and having fun with friends, as well as learning the similarities and differences between the two cultures will be part of the experience. The Israeli Scouts and their leader will stay with host families from the congregation of Beth Adam in Loveland, the weekend they arrive, and the weekend after camp.
This program has been joining Israeli and American Scouts for the past five years and is part of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati Partnership 2000 (P2K), which works to develop relationships and group exchanges between citizens of both Netanya and Cincinnati. Western Southern Foundation, Congretation Beth Adam, Steven Frankel, and Bill Friedlanderl are also underwriting the Scouting program.
